On Badal Sr.’s death anniversary, the BJP and SAD could form an alliance

Following the successful integration of Jayant Chaudhary’s Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) into the NDA, the BJP is now considering a partnership with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab.

Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar said in a media interview on Friday that while the public supports the BJP-SAD alliance, the party is prepared to run for all 13 of the state’s Lok Sabha seats.

There is much speculation that Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda may attend the March 10 first anniversary of late chief minister and SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal’s passing. Additionally, Jakhar launched off “Viksit Bharat Modi ki guarantee” video vans that included images of Nadda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to solicit public input for the party’s “sankalp patra” (manifesto) ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.

Two of the several vans with LED displays would go to each of the state’s thirteen Lok Sabha seats. Additionally, the vehicles include a cellphone number that users may use to leave their recommendations in a box or record them as voice messages. When asked whether the saffron party would gain from a BJP-SAD partnership, Jakhar said, “It is not about a party gaining something, but about the state and its people.” We are prepared to run in all 13 Punjab seats, but the general public is in favor of the BJP-SAD coalition. The regional parties, like as Akali Dal, are essential in advocating the needs of the people.

He said that the party high command would make the ultimate decision on whether or not senior BJP leader and former chief minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh plays a significant role in forging an alliance between the SAD and the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In response to another query, when can we anticipate Patiala MP Preneet Kaur—wife of former chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh—joining the BJP? As per Jakhar, the joining would take place in Delhi.

He made fun of the Congress and AAP by saying that they engaged in a “friendly match.”
