Orange Alert Issued as Parts of Himachal are Lashed by Heavy Rain

The forecast office predicted further rainfall over the weekend as sections of Himachal Pradesh saw moderate to heavy rain on Thursday as a result of intensified pre-monsoon activity.

On Saturday, the MeT predicted that there will likely be isolated areas of low and mid hills, plains, and heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning.

On June 25 and 26, the nearby meteorological station issued an orange alert in remote areas. On these two days, severe to very heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected across plains and low and mid hills, while snowfall is anticipated in the state’s higher elevations.

According to the MeT, the upcoming rain and thunderstorms might harm young seedlings, standing crops, and fruit trees in addition to causing traffic jams, poor visibility, and disruptions in the power supply.

According to the meteorological office, Jogindernagar had the most rainfall in the state during the previous 24 hours with 67 mm, followed by Kataula with 52 mm, Pandoh with 36 mm, and Bharari with 22 mm.

In contrast to the typical rainfall of 63 mm, the state only got 52.8 mm on average from June 1 to June 22, a deficiency of 16%, it said.

The rain on Thursday caused the daytime temperatures to drop, with the mercury maintaining below 35 degrees Celsius in the majority of locations. The warmest place in the state, Una, had a high of 36 degrees Celsius, down 3.6 degrees from the previous day, according to meteorological information.
