Painter perishes at building site after falling from second story

Yesterday, while painting a home in Sector 12 that was still under construction, a laborer fell from the second story and perished. The victim’s relatives raised a commotion outside the post-mortem residence, calling for the contractor and building owner to be taken into custody.

Following confirmation, the deceased’s post-mortem was approved by the family.

Rahish, the victim’s brother, filed a complaint, and the Sector 5 police station filed a case against the building owner and the contractor under Sections 304-A, 336, and 34 of the IPC.

The incident happened yesterday at Bhagat Singh Kataria’s under-construction home in Sector 12, where 32-year-old Farid—a resident of Khamni village in the Mathura region of Uttar Pradesh—was painting the second floor, according to the police.

It is said that where Farid was painting, there were no safety features like a net or belt. Farid got hurt while at work when he fell from the second story. When he arrived at the hospital in a serious state, the medical staff pronounced him dead.

“Landlord Bhagat Singh Kataria did not make safety arrangements by installing proper equipment,” Rahish said, excluding contractor Salim. Their carelessness caused my brother to pass away.” According to the police, legal action will be taken when they had confirmed the facts.
