Panel will examine requests from physicians: Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

The formation of a committee headed by the Special Secretary (Health) to investigate the complaints and requests of the state’s medical officials has been ordered by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The Medical Officers Association representatives, the director of medical education, and the director of health and family welfare will make up the committee. The group will also research different facets of physician promotions and provide recommendations for policies that would enhance medical officers.

The chief minister said that while the state’s finances were in peril, the administration was carefully examining the legitimate requests of medical personnel. “The government’s initiatives are helping the state’s economy progressively get back on track. In due time, my administration will provide financial incentives to government personnel,” Sukhu said in a meeting with the physicians’ organization leaders.

The CM stated that efforts were being made to develop the health infrastructure in order to give specialized health services to the people at their doorsteps, and he urged the physicians to work with the government and help in boosting the economy.

Sukhu declared: “Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans are being established by the government in all 68 state Assembly seats, with a minimum of six specialized physicians in each constituency. The government is hiring more medical officers and support workers to help with the scarcity of physicians and paramedical personnel in healthcare facilities. Additionally, initiatives are afoot to enhance labor conditions in healthcare facilities and institute a standard eight-hour shift for medical staff.

He said that the physicians will also go on foreign exposure tours to learn about the newest methods and competencies in the medical field. In order to improve efficiency, he gave the Health Department instructions to digitize medical officers’ data.
