“People are fed up with distant MPs,” said Dr. Guduri Srinivas, a YSRCP candidate

Renowned pulmonologist Dr. Guduri Srinivas, who is running for Lok Sabha from Rajahmundry for the first time, is certain that he will place on the podium. He started his mass contact campaign shortly after being announced as the YSRC contender for the Lok Sabha constituency in Rajahmundry. During his election campaign, Dr. Guduri Srinivas said he is receiving a resounding reaction from the public in an interview with KV Sailendra.

Your opponent in the Lok Sabha elections is D Purandeswari, the president of the State BJP and the daughter of TDP founder NT Rama Rao. Will the battle be difficult?

Rajahmundry residents have been dissatisfied with “Guest MPs” since, after winning office, the out-of-community leaders seldom visited the district. The non-local MPs were usually eager to go back home when they visited the constituency after relocating to Hyderabad or another city. Fortunately, people are shrewd enough not to support a non-local candidate like Purandeswari.

How likely do you think you are to win the election?

I am quite sure that I will get a comfortable majority and win the seat. I get along well with all seven of the Assembly candidates running in the parliamentary seat, as well as the current YSRC MLAs. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, our chief minister, is a dynamic leader who is dedicated to helping the underprivileged and oppressed. As part of keeping its electoral pledges, the YSRC administration has transparently credited almost `2.50 lakh crore into the bank accounts of recipients of different social packages during the last five years. The YSRC is highly trusted by the populace.

Which electoral pledges do you have?

I would work to secure a software park for Rajahmundry, which has tremendous development potential and all the required infrastructure, if the people allow me the chance to represent the constituency.

Is political credibility important?

Indeed, it is the most important. The BJP candidate lacks credibility because of her history of switching political parties. She joined the Congress and worked as a central minister after becoming the daughter of TDP founder NT Rama Rao. Her desire for power was evident when she left the Congress and joined the BJP after the party’s loss at the Centre. On a YSRC ticket, her husband D Venkateswara Rao ran in the most recent Assembly elections. He quit the YSRC after losing. They are neither dependable or devoted. How can the people of East Godavari district, or Rajahmundry for that matter, trust Purandeswari? The populace already had a negative encounter with “Guest MPs.”

The TDP claims that the YSRC has only implemented a few social programs and has not done any harm to the State. Is that accurate?

Our Chief Minister Jagan has shown unmatched dedication to the fields of education, women’s empowerment, agriculture, health care, and local government. The TDP just cares about gaining power; it has no program for progress. The public won’t trust the BJP because it didn’t keep the promises it made to Andhra Pradesh after the state’s split. We will destroy the TDP-JSP-BJP combination for their self-serving alliance. Because of its dedication to the development of the State and the welfare of the populace, the YSRC would win all 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the next elections.
