Nayab Saini says 48 MLAs are behind him and wants an assembly meeting to demonstrate the majority

In order for the BJP administration to demonstrate its majority in the House, the recently appointed chief minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, said he has urged Governor Bandaru Dattatreya to call a special assembly session on Wednesday. Saini also delivered a letter of support signed by forty-eight MLAs.

After taking the oath of office as the new Chief Minister and conducting his first Cabinet meeting, Saini told reporters in Chandigarh, “We have urged the governor to convene the assembly session tomorrow, when we will prove our majority on the floor of the House.”

In response to a question about the BJP’s ability to demonstrate a majority in the 90-member Haryana Assembly, Saini said, “We provided the Governor with a letter of support from 48 MLAs.”

With 41 members in the Haryana Assembly, the BJP is supported by six of the seven Independent MLAs in addition to Gopal Kand, the lone MLA from the Haryana Lokhit Party.

The major opposition Congress has thirty MLAs, while the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), headed by Dushyant Chautala, has ten.

Saini said that a resolution thanking the departing Khattar administration for its efforts was accepted during the Cabinet meeting.

Over the course of the last nine and a half years, Khattar has given Haryana new direction and set a model for effective government. “Haryana Ek Haryanvi Ek” was more than just a catchphrase; it was a method of fair development. In keeping with Antyodaya’s attitude, we have worked without prejudice,” Saini said.

Saini also expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP leader J P Nadda, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving him the significant job.

“I have been given this new task. We’ll strive tirelessly to meet everyone’s expectations and exceed them,” he said.

The Haryana government gave the oath to 54-year-old OBC leader Saini at Raj Bhawan earlier in the day. Additionally, five MLAs were sworn in as ministers: one independent and four BJP members.

This followed the abrupt resignations of 13 other members of the BJP-led council of ministers, including Dushyant Chautala, the deputy chief minister of Haryana, and Khattar.
