Phase 2: More than 1,200 participants from 12 states and UTs

The Election Commission said on Tuesday that over 1,200 candidates are running for the second round of the Lok Sabha election, which is scheduled for April 26.

Kerala may get up to 500 nominations in phase two from its 20 parliamentary constituencies; Karnataka may receive 491 nominations from its 14 seats. In Tripura, at least 14 nominations were received from a single constituency. Nanded, Maharashtra, got up to ninety-two nominations.

By April 4th, 2,633 nominations for 88 parliamentary seats spread over 12 states and UTs had been submitted for phase two. Following examination, 1,428 nominations were determined to be legitimate. However, 1,210 contestants are still running after a few withdrew their candidacies.

In the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency, elections are scheduled for up to 15 Assembly segments on April 19 in the first phase and 13 Assembly constituencies on April 26 in the second.
