PM’s ‘Silence’ Regarding Violence in Manipur Is Questioned by NESO

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the violence in Manipur was questioned by the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) on Friday.

Additionally, it urged the Union government to take prompt action to end the violence that has ravaged the northeastern state for more than a month and bring about peace and normality.

After a gathering of its member organisations in this location, NESO issued a statement expressing “surprise at the silence” of Modi.

“The PM has to break this impasse and start acting decisively. His lack of responsibility for the area is shown by his silence, according to NESO president Samuel Jyrwa and secretary-general Mutsikhoyo Yhobo.

Samujjal Bhattacharjya, the organization’s top adviser, said, “Both the state and federal governments have failed to curb the violence. Even after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s arrival, it continued.

On June 28, candlelight gatherings will be held in each of the region’s seven main cities, according to NESO.

Participants at the conference included leaders and members from the All Assam Students’ Union, the Karbi Students’ Union, the Garo Students’ Union, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union, the All Manipur Students’ Union, the Naga Students’ Federation, the Tripura Students’ Federation, and the Mizo Zirlai Pawl.

Conflicts between the Meitei and Kuki groups in Manipur that started more than a month ago have claimed the lives of over 100 individuals.
