Punjab and Haryana High Court orders CBI investigation into Bhiwani MC problems in relation to multi-crore scam

In response to a petition claiming, among other things, that a multi-crore scam involved sending a check to “some bogus company” from Bhiwani Municipal Council’s account, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the CBI to launch a preliminary investigation before providing its report in four months.

In addition, Justice Vinod S. Bhardwaj ordered the state of Haryana to assign two Assistant Sub-Inspector-level officials and a Deputy Superintendent of Police-rank individual as the investigating officer so that the investigation would be carried out by the top investigative agency.

Sushil Kumar Verma’s plea prompted the decision. He said that since the current administration is providing protection and patronage, the state police “was not properly investigating the case in all the FIRs, which warrants the investigation of all FIRs by some premier investigation agency i.e. CBI.” According to Justice Bhardwaj, it was necessary to conduct an impartial investigation into the claims.
