Rahul visits relief camps in Moirang, Manipur

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, will visit relief camps in the town of Moirang on Friday, according to party officials. In addition to touring relief camps in the capital of Manipur, Gandhi would meet with intellectuals and members of civil society in Imphal throughout the day, they added.

In Churachandpur, one of the hardest hit towns by the ethnic riots that has ravaged the northeastern state for the last two months, he toured relief camps on Thursday.

High drama occurred throughout the journey when the local police in Bishnupur halted his convoy of automobiles out of concern that they would come under assault. Gandhi ultimately made a U-turn and used a helicopter to descend to Churachandpur. The Congressman is in Manipur for two days to “bring a healing touch” to the locals.
