Rajasthan: Following the death of a biker, racial tensions flare up in Jaipur

On Saturday, when a man purportedly died in a fight over a motorbike accident, racial tensions broke out in Ramganj and the surrounding suburbs of Rajasthan’s Jaipur.

The dead was reportedly beaten to death by a gang of guys after a collision involving two motorbikes, according to the police.

The event took place in Jaipur’s Subhash Chowk neighborhood. Following the tensions, the local businesses have closed.

Family members of the dead and people gathered there are demanding action against the other side, according to PTI, and some stores in the Muslim-dominated districts have been closed.

According to police, PTI, more personnel have been deployed in the region, and attempts are being made to reduce the tension.

Additionally, a supposedly legitimate video of the event has surfaced on social media, although its veracity cannot be independently verified.

The Jaipur Administration has offered a compensation of Rs 50 lakh, a job, and a dairy booth for the family of Iqbal, according to the India Today.Police sources said that six persons have been detained in connection with the case.

According to Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph, the event was caused by a miscommunication. He said that two motorbikes collided at Subhash Chowk, and that after the collision, a group of guys present there beat two onlookers, believing they were to blame for the disaster.

According to Joseph, who spoke to PTI, “After the accident, an unfortunate incident of road rage occurred in which two men, who had stopped there to see what had happened, were thrashed by a group of people.”
“One of the two men died,” he continued. Following the filing of a FIR, we apprehended some of the incident’s participants. Right now, everything is normal, and shortly, absolute tranquility will return.

According to a different police officer, the dead was a resident of the Ramganj region while the accused resided in the Subhash Chowk neighborhood. Both areas are within the fortified city of Jaipur.

According to DGP Umesh Mishra, the situation is under control and sufficient soldiers, including the Special Task Force (STF), have been deployed. He also said that drones are being utilized to monitor the region.

“Strict action as per the law will be taken against the accused in the case,” he said.

According to the police, the man’s post-mortem was performed at the Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur.

However, once rapid action was taken to pick up the suspects and swiftly deploy the troops in the area, the situation did not deteriorate, according to the police. “The situation in the area is under control,” they continued.
