Reader Comments: Dhalpur roads gather rainwater

A big problem for commuters is the waterlogging on Dhalpur’s college road. Because there is little drainage, the road almost becomes a pond when it rains. When cars traverse the flooded area, pedestrians are often doused with filthy water. Due to the development of a Kullu Municipal Council market next to the road, the situation has become worse. The relevant authorities have chosen to ignore the issues that residents in Ward 9 are facing. They have to make sure the region has enough drainage.

PDS warehouses in Kharal Valley without flour

In Kharal Valley, the public distribution system (PDS) customers who are BPL and NFS have not received discounted wheat from government depots for more than 45 days, although APL cards get it on a regular basis. Customers are compelled to make many visits, only to return empty-handed, and are forced to pay more for wheat purchased from the market. These depots get an inconsistent supply of rations; sometimes, wheat is unavailable, and other times, pulses are not. The relevant authorities should regularize the delivery of rations and make flour accessible at depots at reasonable prices.

Locals find Shimla buses too packed.

In Shimla, getting a private transport is rather challenging. Even when the buses are full, the conductors and drivers of these privately run buses make an effort to accommodate more passengers. Such buses are quite difficult to travel in, especially for women, children, and the elderly. People are urged to get off the bus and board another one if they disagree with these tactics. The relevant authorities need to investigate this situation and issue warnings to negligent operators.

Do you find a civic problem bothersome? Are you upset by their lack of interest? Do you think there’s anything encouraging that should be emphasized? or a photo that, in your view, should be seen by more people than just you?
