SHGs in Jharkhand That Are Increasing Women’s Empowerment: Gov

Self-help groups (SHGs), according to Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, are empowering women and increasing the rural economy of the state.

As part of a “Lok Samvad” initiative, he urged more women to join SHGs and take advantage of the different government programs.

The fact that over 1 lakh women have joined SHGs in the area, resulting in their empowerment and improved living circumstances for their families, makes me glad, he added.

Banks have provided 2.26 lakh SHGs out of 2.78 lakh SHGs in 30,000 villages spread over 24 districts with Rs 6,511 crore in credit.

A member who shared her success story with the Governor praised the benefits of SHGs, saying, “The financial situation of my family was awful. After I joined the organization, I obtained a loan, began raising goats, and also established a food store. I am now making up to Rs 20,000 per month and putting my kids in reputable institutions.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has been implemented, to the Governor’s satisfaction. “I am overjoyed to learn that more than 50,000 houses have been built under the scheme,” he remarked. Our goal is for every individual who is homeless to have a home of their own.

According to a release from the Raj Bhavan, the governor also spoke with kids at Kasturba Gandhi School, which has been designated a “School of Excellence,” and encouraged them to work hard in school and succeed in a variety of fields.

“Over the course of the last 7,000 kilometres, I have developed communication with people of more than 1,000 communities spread over 21 districts. I am now aware of the situation of different projects’ execution and the issues facing people, the release quoted the governor as saying.

He had visited Sahibganj before to Godda and expressed pleasure with the way the PM housing plan had been implemented there.

He said that 84,207 of the 90,479 sanctioned homes had already been finished and that work was continuing on the remaining homes.
