Shimoga Lok Sabha Election 2024: Geetha Shivarajkumar will face off against BJP’s BY Raghavendra at the party’s stronghold

Karnataka state has 28 Lok Sabha seats, including Shimoga. It is a parliament seat of the general type. It includes the whole district of Shimoga and a portion of the district of Udapi. This seat is regarded as the family’s stronghold and is home to former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

The seat will see a contest in the next general election between Congress candidate Geetha Shivarajkumar and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contender and current MP BY Raghavendra. The son of Yediyurappa, BY Raghavendra, is aiming for a fourth term in office. Shivarajkumar, the late chief minister BS Bangarappa’s daughter and the wife of Kannada film star Dr. Shivarajkumar, is expected to vie for the seat based on the state’s famous guarantee programmes.

Shimoga seat: outcomes for 2019
In the general elections of 2019, Raghavendra defeated JD (S) candidate S Madhubangarappa by a margin of 2,23,360 votes to win the seat. In 2019, the constituency saw a voting turnout of 76.40 percent. In all, thirteen individuals ran for this particular seat.

Elections to the Karnataka Lok Sabha 2024
For the Lok Sabha elections, Karnataka’s 28 seats will be up for election in two phases on April 26 and May 7 (second and third phases). Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar revealed the Lok Sabha election timetable for 2024 at a news conference on March 16. There will be seven stages to the nationwide general elections. Karnataka will have two rounds of voting.
