Sirsa MC is registering for stores in the city’s car market

The Municipal Council is in charge of overseeing the registration procedure for merchants’ establishments in the city’s car market. As of right now, 100 stores have finished their registrations, while the other establishments are awaiting the issuance of IDs and no objection certificates (NOCs).

On February 21, the department of urban local bodies issued instructions for the same, which prompted the MC to start the process of giving ownership rights and establishing IDs.

Additionally, allocation letters have been moved, and steps are being taken for traders who have already sold their stores or who have passed away. Initially, 1,251 dealers were given storefronts by the government; by March, around 100 registrations had been completed.

The automobile industry began in 1987, under the leadership of Minister Lachhman Dass Arora, during the Congress’s rule.

Plot allocation inconsistencies gave rise to legal issues, which delayed development until all cases were settled.

982 plots were originally allotted in two parts, with 279 plots up for sale and 703 plots reserved for mechanics. 269 more plots were added later, for a total of 1,251 plots.

Although building has just started on one-third of the total plots, the department has also scheduled auctions for three plots that will be used as gas stations, service centres, and restaurants.

After many challenges, mechanic Hari Kishan was happy that store registrations had finally started. He brought up examples of some sellers selling the same stores to many owners on false pretences in order to make money. This resulted in ownership issues between the many groups that eventually bought the same store for several years.

He said that registration will validate the actual ownership of the establishments, allowing access to amenities and road maintenance as well.

Furthermore, loans for stores would now be available to individuals, something that was previously impossible due to a lack of legal evidence of ownership.

Atar Singh Khangawal, the executive officer of Sirsa MC, verified that the auto market’s shop allocation and registration procedure were still in progress. Currently, around 100 shops have been registered, and efforts are being made to register the remaining businesses.
