Six candidates have been announced by Trinamool Congress for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections

Trinamool Congress, the party in power in West Bengal, has released the names of six candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Samirul Islam, Prakash Chik Baraik, and Saket Gokhale are the contenders.

Elections for 10 Rajya Sabha seats will take place on July 24 in Goa, Gujarat, and West Bengal, according to the Indian Election Commission.

West Bengal will no longer be represented by Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Sushmita Dev, and Shanta Chhetri.

Former Congresswoman Sushmita Dev and current Member of Parliament Shanta Chetri are the only two who have not yet been included.

We take great delight in declaring the candidacies of Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, Sukhendu Sekhar, Samirul Islam, Prakash Chik Baraik, and Saket Gokhale for the next Rajya Sabha elections, the Trinamool Congress said on its Twitter account.

Additionally, it wished them well in upholding Trinamool’s illustrious tradition of unwavering spirit and support for the rights of every Indian by continuing to be committed to serving the public. On Monday morning, the party tweeted from its official account, “We extend our heartfelt wishes to all.”

Following conflicts, numerous party activists from various political parties in West Bengal lost their lives during the most recent panchayat elections. The governing party and the opposition parties continued to engage in a verbal battle on who was to blame for the violence. Suvendu Adhikari, the head of the opposition party, accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of being to responsible, while Banerjee said that majority of those killed were members of her own party. For the locations where the voting process was interfered with on July 8, a new election will be held on July 10.
