AIADMK and DMK are in a “illegal alliance,” attempting to divide the vote: Dhinakaran

TTV Dhinakaran, the leader of the AMMK, questioned why Edappadi K Palaniswami, the leader of the AIADMK, was not standing for election in the next Lok Sabha vote, claiming that the party is in an unlawful alliance with the DMK.

Speaking to a crowd in Madurai on Wednesday, Dhinakaran said that Palaniswami had chosen to run candidates who had previously challenged the late leaders J Jayalalithaa and MG Ramachandran.

“In the Tirunelveli constituency, EPS first fielded Shimla Muthuchozan, but subsequently fielded Janshi Rani, a DMK candidate, to challenge J Jayalalithaa. Additionally, a ticket was handed to Madurai AIADMK candidate Dr Saravanan, who had previously expressed misgivings about Jayalalithaa’s candidacy when he was in the DMK. In Ramanathapuram, Palanisami also fielded Jayaperumal, whose father Paulswamy Thevar had run as a DMK candidate against MGR in 1977 “added the speaker.

Dhinakaran went on to say that Palaniswami, who maintained a stronghold in the Salem seat, abstained from running for office. He did, however, point out that other prominent members of the BJP and its allies are also running in the election. He named a number of well-known candidates, including O Panneerselvam, K Annamalai, L Murugan, Pon Radhakrishnan, Nainar Nagendran, Raadhika Sarathkumar, and former Telangana state governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. “OPS went a step further and is contesting on an Independent symbol,” he said.

“The DMK and the AIADMK have an unlawful relationship. In order to prevent the BJP and its partners from winning the anti-DMK votes, the AIADMK is running as a single candidate. There isn’t a PM candidate for the DMK or AIADMK. We now have a PM face after allying with the BJP, even though there was no PM candidate for AMMK in 2019,” he said.

Raama Sreenivasan, the BJP’s candidate for Madurai, was also present.

“With the DMK’s approval, Congress granted Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka.”

The DMK gave its approval for the erstwhile Congress-led union government to turn over Katchatheevu island to Sri Lanka, TTV Dhinakaran said in Theni, after a memorial service at the Perugamanallur Martyrs’ Memorial Hall.
Speaking to the media, Dhinakaran said, “With the late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s approval, then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka in 1974. Because of this, the Sri Lankan Navy often arrests our fishermen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now working to get them out. If Modi is re-elected, he would retrieve the island to resolve the matter permanently.”

In addition, Dhinakaran honored sixteen martyrs, among them Mayakkal, a lady who lost her life fighting against the British government’s Draconic Criminal Tribes Act. The third of April is remembered as the martyrs’ day in the Perugamanallur massacre. I honor the martyrs who gave their lives to uphold justice on this day,” he said.
