State fills government pleader post after two years

Nagpur: On Monday, the Maharashtra law and judiciary department named attorney Devendra Chauhan as the public prosecutor (PP) and government pleader (GP) in the Bombay High Court’s Nagpur bench.

Anand Deshpande was named acting general practitioner by the government, despite the position being vacant for more than two years. Ketki Joshi handled the task in the same role before to him.

Prior to Chauhan’s appointment, Sumant Deopujari was the final full-time general practitioner. Chauhan was requested to assume leadership on Tuesday. Chauhan, beaming, told TOI that renovating the whole GP office and restoring its grandeur will be his first priority. “I promise to give the post my all,” he said. Chauhan, a distinguished attorney with more than 24 years of expertise in a variety of legal fields, started his legal career as a first-generation attorney by working for senior counsel Subodh Dharmadhikari. tnn
