Students from Aligarh Muslim University were detained by the UP police for participating in a pro-Palestine protest

The Uttar Pradesh Police detained many Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students on Monday for staging a campus demonstration in support of Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas conflict. On the AMU campus in Aligarh, a group of students staged a protest march from Duck Point to Babey Sir Syed Gate on Sunday evening.

Police have taken numerous kids into custody in connection with the incident, according to superintendent R Shekhar Pathak. He said that the FIR names four pupils, Aatif, Khalid, Kaamran, and Naved Chaudhry.

According to the FIR, the kids marched to “support” a “terrorist group.” According to the police, the protesters did not get any prior authorization for their march. As a precaution, security measures on campus have been increased as well.

The pupils have been charged with violating IPC sections 505 (statements inciting public mischief), 188 (disobedience to an order properly issued by a public official), and 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, language, etc.).

After Aligarh BJP MP Satish Gautam said he had ordered police and the acting vice chancellor of AMU to take harsh action against the demonstrators, the complaint was filed.

After a surprise rocket attack by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, on Saturday morning, Israel proclaimed a “state of war” with it.

Israel has had more than 2,100 injuries and more than 700 fatalities, including troops. Over 500 Palestinians have died and approximately 3,000 others have been wounded as a result of Israeli counterattacks. One of the worst wars in at least 50 years, according to estimates.
