Sunday post offices are currently operational in a few Karnataka cities

The Karnataka Postal Circle is considering operating a small number of post offices around the State on Sundays in response to requests from office workers. In order to allow the public to have postal services accessible at least in their cities on all days of the week, they will remain closed on all other ordinary working days of the week.

“We have been receiving suggestions from the public to introduce such a step,” a senior postal official told TNIE. We are able to reserve things exclusively for Sundays at the GPO in Bengaluru. Financial operations such as cash deposits, withdrawals from savings accounts, and money order reservations are not provided, nevertheless.

We are now considering this step because of the public input that post offices that may operate on Sundays should provide banking services as well. This will take place in large cities like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, and Mangaluru, among others, which now have many post offices.

We want to leave doors open at five post offices on Sunday in Bengaluru. Our current proposal is for one in the central business area and one in each of the city’s north, south, east, and west. Additionally, the official said, “We intend to close these specific post offices on Wednesdays.” “We’re still working on figuring out which post offices are where in the state. Before we go forward with the idea, customers are invited to offer more comments, he said.

According to another source, Karnataka Porcle has been a trailblazer in providing cutting-edge services for the general population. Sanje Anche Kacheris, or evening post offices, were introduced in Dharwad and Bengaluru in November 2022 and January 2023, respectively. She mentioned the “Click and Book” services, which allow customers to reserve up to five products online for later pickup by delivery personnel, including the nation’s first 3D printed post office item.
