The minister pledges support for increasing the output of cattle

Over two days, SKUAST Kashmir hosted a technological expo and seed mela, which was officially opened by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Parshottam Rupala, and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

During the occasion, a number of projects and initiatives were launched, such as the commercial silage unit of SKUAST Kashmir, Krishi Radio, and the J&K administration’s student rural exploration program, known as the “rural internship.”

A J&K Aqua Park was also announced by the Union Minister. He pledged to provide all assistance in expanding the cattle industry, setting up a contemporary fish market, and giving the local farmers and pastoralists in the Union Territory other options for generating income. The Lieutenant Governor conveyed appreciation to the Union Minister and the Indian government for their assistance and collaboration in the growth of the UT’s agricultural and related sectors. He also recognized that SKUAST-Kashmir was essential in advancing agricultural sector reforms and enabling Jammu and Kashmir to reach its full potential.

We honor the inventiveness and tenacity that characterize our agricultural environment today. The lieutenant governor said, “This event provides a forum for information sharing, technology distribution, and market connections, enabling our farmers to adopt contemporary methods while maintaining our ancient customs.

This year’s Mela, which has as its subject “From Green and White Revolution to Blue Revolution: Cold Water Fisheries a Game Changer in J&K,” marks the beginning of a new phase in agricultural transformation, where everyone’s life is enhanced by the abundance of our water bodies, according to Sinha.

“Agriculture, including the livestock and fisheries sectors, holds even greater significance in the unique context of J&K.” Their combined contribution to our state gross domestic product (SGDP) is an astounding 51%, highlighting their critical role in our success. Our area is particularly well-suited for agricultural growth, especially in cattle raising and fishery operations, because of its varied climate, lush plains, and plentiful water resources, the L-G said.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to using the potential of the agricultural and related sectors to build a better future for future generations.

“We are working hard to expand the insurance scheme’s advantages to the cattle industry. It is guaranteed that the PM Fasal Bima Yojana is implemented effectively and that the Kisan Credit Card is saturated. Every home in J&K will have a tap water connection by June of this year, according to the Lieutenant Governor.

He said that UT’s initiatives to support livestock production and fodder conservation are reflected in the opening of the silage-making plant at KVK Ganderbal. He said that silage, which is produced from fermented green hay, is an affordable and nutrient-dense feed choice.

The L-G said, “In the same vein, the introduction of Krishi Radio to the farming community represents our understanding of the role that communication can play in advancing agricultural change.
