The same number of SUVs were discovered parked at Lutyens’

NEW DELHI: Two SUVs with the same registration number were discovered abandoned, posing a serious security risk in the high-security Tughlaq Road region. A VIP’s security system identified the two cars, alerting a local police officer who was on duty.

The event happened on March 18 in the evening. At 6:19 p.m., a PCR call was placed, according to sources. The police immediately acted, searching the two cars for any suspicious items before seizing them.

Under sections 471 (using a forged document as genuine) and 482 (using a fraudulent property mark) of the IPC, the police have filed a formal complaint and said that they are still looking into the situation. A year’s imprisonment is the penalty for the charges.

The automobile’s owner has been located. According to an inquiry, the cars were registered in the names of a Faridabad resident who also resides in Malviya Nagar, south Delhi. One of the cars had an authentic licence plate. A senior police officer said, “Its licence plate was identical to itss.

Two Innova Crystas with the same number, HR87J3289, were discovered parked; one was white in colour and the other was shiny silver. The silver metallic car’s details were verified as authentic; however,, the engine and chassis numbers of the second vehicle did not match the registration number. The real number of the white Innova was discovered to be HR38AD9391,” the police report went on to say.

Since several Union ministers and VIPs dwell in Lutyens’ Delhi, the police brass is investigating the situation. As to DCP Devesh Mahla, the complainant’s account served as the basis for the FIR.
After further investigation, it was discovered that the driver had abandoned the car because one of its tyres had a puncture. “No one has come forward to claim the autos as of yet. The officer said, “We are looking through CCTV footage to find out who parked the automobiles and how long they were there.
According to police sources, they would also investigate if the cars were the work of thieves or whether any crimes had been committed using them before they were parked here. In order to find out whether any SUVs were taken, they are also contacting other police stations.
