Three abandoned homes were set on fire in Imphal, Manipur, by unidentified individuals

On a Sunday afternoon in Imphal, the state capital of Manipur, three abandoned homes were set on fire by unidentified persons in the New Lambulane neighborhood. The fires were quickly put out by the neighborhood fire department, according to authorities.

After the fire, a group of locals gathered at the scene and requested the placement of state and federal security troops nearby. They asked for authorization to enter the space. Security personnel used tear gas shells to disperse the gathering in response, keeping the area in order, according to PTI.

In a another incident, which happened on Sunday as well, unidentified perpetrators took three weapons from security employees in charge of protecting K Rajo’s old home, a former director of health and family welfare. Around two in the morning, this incident occurred in the Sagolband Bijoy Govinda neighborhood, which is under the control of Imphal PS in the Imphal West district. Two rifles from the AK series and a carbine were among the stolen firearms.

The circumstances behind these occurrences are the subject of an ongoing investigation by authorities. The police have started a number of operations in the meantime with the goal of finding the stolen firearms and catching the thieves.
