Three terror suspects detained in Baramulla

Three members of the outlawed organization Lashkar-e-Taiba have been taken into custody by the police and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, who also confiscated grenades and other evidence related to them from their Baramulla residence.

The suspects were allegedly planning to enter the town to assault security personnel, therefore the arrest was considered a breakthrough. The police said that their apparent goal was to disturb the calm before the impending elections.

According to the police, they have obtained reliable information that some terrorists who are not named and are associated with the outlawed LeT group are relocating to Baramulla town with the purpose of attacking security personnel.

“They were receiving assistance and information about the movements of security forces from three individuals from Baramulla town, Owais Ahmad Waza, Basit Fayaz Kaloo, and Faheem Ahmad Mir. Their intention was to disrupt the peace in Baramulla prior to the Lok Sabha elections.” Their handlers across the border planned the mishap, according to the police.

Following receipt of the information, the police claimed that an inquiry was launched and a case under the UA(P)Act was filed at the Baramulla police station. Three hand grenades were found in the custody of the three accused individuals who were arrested in old town Baramulla during the course of the inquiry, according to the police.
