TMC Approaches ECI; BJP’s Dilip Ghosh On Mamata Banerjee: “She Must Identify Her Own Father”
TMC Approaches ECI: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has accused Dilip Ghosh, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), of making offensive statements directed at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Regarding this, the TMC has filed a complaint against Dilip Ghosh with the Election Commission of India (ECI).
According to the TMC, Ghosh’s personal statements on the CM constitute a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
BJP MP Dilip Ghosh previously said that Mamata Banerjee “must identify her own father” and that “she, wherever she goes, calls herself the daughter of that state” when speaking to the media in Durgapur.
“Didi (CM Mamata Banerjee) refers to herself as the daughter of Goa when she travels there. She claims to be Tripura’s daughter when she visits the city. Dilip Ghosh had said, “She ought to identify her own father first.”
The TMC has urged the ECI to take immediate action against Dilip Ghosh, citing the MCC clause that states that “no political party or candidate should indulge in any activities or make any statements that would amount to an attack on the personal life of any person or statements that may be malicious or offend decency and morality” in its submission.
The letter to the ECI said, “Mr. Ghosh’s remarks not only go beyond the bounds of propriety but also perpetuate a culture of misogyny and disrespect towards women in positions of power.”
Such a mindset among BJP leaders degrades Nari Shakti. He has already spoken disparagingly about Maa Durga. TMC leader Kirti Azad said, “He should be arrested under the POCSO Act for what he said about Mamata Banerjee.”
Minister Shashi Panja of West Bengal said that Dilip Ghosh of the BJP is a small-time politician who ought to be defeated in the next elections.
“We are all India’s daughters. We will always remain India’s daughters, no matter where we go. Upon visiting any state, we will become its daughters. What a small-minded guy Dilip Ghosh is. He is running for office and believes he will be elected to a position as a public representative. Will the public representative be someone like this man?
“The BJP is targeting women and Mamata Didi because of its terrible DNA and character. They want to undermine and repress women should they become influential. What kind of perspective will workers have if politicians have this one? How will it affect things at ground level? Atrocities committed against women will rise if you disparage them. We need to vanquish such individuals. It is time for the Election Commission to intervene. They will stop at nothing to gain power because they are so avaricious. Their actions are a result of their frustration, she said.
