Travel agent woman accused of fraud

A female travel agent has been detained by the Shahkot police for defrauding a resident of Shahkot out of Rs 13.75 lakh on the false pretense of transporting him overseas.

Amandeep Singh, Shahkot’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and the case’s investigating officer (IO) said that Rajnish Kaur, also known as Rajni Bala, a resident of Baba Bahadar Nagar in Ludhiana, had been identified as the suspect.

Mohalla Gobind Nagar, Shahkot resident Sahbi informed the police that he had given the suspect Rs 13.75 lakh to make it easier for him to immigrate to Canada. But the suspect didn’t send him overseas or give the money back.

According to the IO, a case was filed against the suspect in accordance with Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act Section 13 and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
