Two CIs in Andhra Pradesh suspended for abusing two children

ANANTAPUR: Two circle inspectors were suspended by district range deputy inspector general of police RN Ammireddy on Friday for allegedly abusing two children, one who was disabled and the other a Dalit. The events occurred on Friday. The names of the suspended officials are Nagarjuna Reddy and Hamid Khan.

Truck driver Rama Guravayya was reportedly assaulted by Tadipatri I-Town inspector Hamid Khan, who also allegedly shocked him with electric shocks to his ears and nose. Two of Guravayya’s pals visited his CPI Colony home on November 22 and extended an invitation for a party. We got into a fight when I said I wasn’t going to the party. I shoved my buddy Ranjit Naidu in the melee. Guravayya informed TNIE that the man hurt his ear after falling to the ground.

Naidu later filed a complaint with the neighborhood police. After that, Khan reportedly smacked Guravayya and sent him away after calling him to the police station. Upon discovering the occurrence, Guravayya’s mother removed him to Iduguru village, which is close to Tadipatri, in order to prevent the problem from becoming worse. But Naidu and Khan reportedly arrived in Iduguru on November 24, between 11.30 and 12 in the evening, and carried the victim to the police station.

Guruvayya went on to describe the alleged cruelty, saying, “The CI tied my hands and legs and thrashed me for almost half an hour.” My hands were later released, and water was provided to me. I was beginning to believe that the cops would release me when the inspector restrained me once again and shocked my ears and nose with electricity. Even when I begged them to stop torturing me, they persisted. Afterward, the inspector led me to the first level and secured my hands to the ceiling fan hook using a rope.

He continued, recalling the horrifying event, saying, “I thought my hand would break.” I was really hurting.

Guravayya said that his mother and other family members had to visit the police station before the police released him. Naidu allegedly apologized when his family and MRPS officials sought to file a complaint against him.

“I am not able to work because I am in so much pain,” Guravayya bemoaned, adding that he had visited with the Superintendent of Police and filed a complaint. In another instance, Mahanandireddy, a man with disabilities who works as an animator for DRDA Velugu and is from Bommalatapalle in Bukkarayasamudram Mandal, is said to have been assaulted by Circle Inspector Nagarjuna Reddy.

The victim posted a video of the alleged police abuse on social media before attempting suicide, which is how the event came to light. Officers at higher levels reacted right away and started taking action against the inspector. Mahanandireddy has been charged with financial irregularities, police said.

Mahanandireddy said in the video that the Circle Inspector beat him and demanded Rs 2 lakh in order to drop the charges against him related to the purported financial irregularities. The victim is now receiving therapy after attempting suicide later in life.

Following the revelation of the occurrences on Thursday, Superintendent of Police KKN Anburajan requested that additional SP Vijaybhaskar Reddy conduct an investigation into both of them. Following the submission of a report, the CIs were placed on suspension.
