Up to 1 pm, Mizoram recorded 52.73 percent of voters, while Chhattisgarh recorded 44.75 percent for 20 seats

Election Commission statistics shows that 52.73% of voters cast ballots in Mizoram and 44.55% of voters in Chhattisgarh during the first round of voting in the state’s 20 assembly seats, which ended at 1 pm.

According to poll panel statistics, Bhanupratappur assembly seat in Chhattisgarh had the highest voter participation, with 61.83 percent of the vote cast up to 1 pm. Kanker came in second, with 61.80 percent. The percentages were 56% in Mohla-Manpur, 55.56% in Antagarh, 54.04% in Kondagaon, and 52.66% in Keshkal.

Mohla-Manpur, Antagarh, Bhanupratappur, Kanker, Keshkal, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Konta were among the 10 seats for which voting began at 7 a.m.

At 8 a.m., voting started for the remaining assembly constituencies: Jagdalpur, Khujji, Bastar, Pandaria, Kawardha, Khairagarh, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, and Chitrakote.

The results of the polling will determine the political future of BJP leaders Bhawna Bohra, Lata Usendi, and Gautam Uike, as well as former chief minister Raman Singh. Among the well-known Congressmen contesting in this round are Vikram Mandavi, Kawasi Lakhma, Mohan Markam, Savitri Manoj Mandavi, and Muhammad Akbar.

In all, 223 candidates—25 of them are women—are running in the first round of the Chhattisgarh elections. 5,304 polling places were put up throughout the state for this round by the Election Commission. Aside from a few other seats, the state’s Naxal-affected territory is where voting is taking place.

Elections are being held in Mizoram for each of the state’s 40 seats.

The Tuichawng seat recorded a voter participation of 63.00 percent, Tuikum 62.62 percent, East TuiPui 61.17 percent, Tuichang 60.20 percent, and Lawngtlai West 59.93 percent, based on poll data collected till 1 pm.

Elections for the 40-member state assembly began at 7 a.m.

The Mizo National Front head, head Minister Zoramthanga, is running for reelection from Aizawl East I.

Former IPS officer Lalduhoma, the leader of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and the party’s chief ministerial candidate, is vying from Serchhip.

With a vote share of 37.8% in the 2018 assembly elections, the Mizo National Front (MNF) won 26 seats and drove out the Congress.

For all 40 seats, candidates have been put up by the Mizo National Front, Indian National Congress, and Zoram People’s Movement; the BJP has put forth 23 candidates.

On November 17, elections will be conducted in Chhattisgarh for the remaining 70 seats. On December 3, ballots from Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, and three additional states will be counted.
