Apply the court’s ruling on teacher benefits: HGCTA

The state government has been requested by the Himachal College Professors Association (HGCTA) to implement a court ruling that provides college professors in the state certain consequential benefits beginning on the day of their hire. Under the direction of HGCTA President Dr. Banita Saklani, this association’s general house was held yesterday at Vallabh Government College in Mandi to address concerns pertaining to college instructors. Attendees at this general house included around 130 instructors from 35 institutions.

Speaking with members of the media, Dr. Banita Saklani said that talks had taken place in the general house over the long-standing requests of college instructors. There was a resolution voted pleading with the state administration to accede to such requests. The group would vigorously pursue the requests with the government, it was agreed after a number of concerns regarding the urgent needs were brought up during the meeting.

“The state’s college instructors have requested that the court’s decision to provide benefits beginning on the day of membership be implemented. There was also discussion of other crucial concerns that need the government’s quick action. These included restoring the increase for MPhil and PhD degree holders, which had been discontinued after 2014, and hiking the retirement age to 65 years in accordance with UGC recommendations, the speaker said.
