Vijayawada: Severe rains and gales impede daily activities

Vijayawada: Rain and strong winds on Tuesday provided some relief from the intense heat in some areas of Andhra Pradesh. In several places, the weather has abruptly shifted since Tuesday afternoon.

The districts of Guntur, Krishna, Eluru, West Godavari, East Godavari, and Konaseema all reported normal to high rainfall. In several of these regions, electricity supplies and daily life were disrupted by uprooted trees and fallen power lines. Farmers are concerned about rain and gales damaging their crops.

In the Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district, Hanuman Junction reported a lot of rain. In the Krishna district’s Gudivada, gales wreak havoc and cause significant damage. There was a disturbance in the provision of electricity due to several trees being uprooted and damaged power cables.

In a similar vein, Tuesday afternoon heavy rain was recorded in Musunuru mandal, Eluru district. Mango growers lost money as a result of the fruits dropping.

The people in Vijayawada were very relieved when the weather changed. For the past several weeks, residents have been suffering because of the intense heat and muggy conditions. However, the residents were much relieved by the weather change. Rain and showers were reported in the NTR district at Tiruvuru, Mylavaram, and other locations.

The mango growers in Nuzvid were alarmed by the reports of strong winds and heavy rainfall. Mango producers suffered losses as their fruit fell to the ground as a result of gales. There have been reports of gales and rain in the Alluri Sitarama Raju area, interrupting regular life in places like VR Puram mandals, Kunavaram, and Chintoor. In the Palnadu district’s Krosuru mandal, gales and showers have been observed.

Similar reports of strong winds and heavy rainfall were made in the Dr. Ambedkar Konaseema district. In several sections of the district, severe rains caused paddy farmlands to be submerged.

Normal to heavy rainfall was observed in Rajahmundry, Samarlakota, and Anaparti in the East Godavari district.

For over four hours, there was thunder and lightning along with the rain. Rainwater inundating low-lying regions of Rajamahendravaram is creating difficulty for residents and commuters. Rain was also recorded in Samalkot and Ravulapalem, where side drains overflowed and stormwater stagnated, creating problems for travelers.
