Violence in Gurugram-Nuh: Muslims Choose To Perform Friday Prayers at Home

In light of the violence that broke out in Nuh, Sohna, and Gurugram earlier this week, a community leader has declared that Muslims in this area would not perform Friday namaz in any public spaces or mosques.

In a video message, Mufti Saleem Qasmi, head of Jamiat Ulama in Gurugram, pleaded with people not to worship in public or congregate in mosques. According to Qasmi, maintaining brotherhood is a civic duty.

The choice was made in response to the intercommunal fighting that occurred at a VHP protest on Monday in Nuh district. Following the skirmishes, there was violence that resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including a clergyman, as well as the burning of numerous automobiles and a restaurant.

“I request that everyone do namaz at home. Only those who reside in a masjid are permitted to perform namaz there. Nobody else is permitted to go inside. May Allah guard our fraternity, the Mufti said on Thursday to PTI. On Wednesday, Hindu-right organizations sent a Deputy Commissioner of Police a memorandum in which they demanded, among other things, that namaz be prohibited in public spaces.

DC In a meeting with the ulemas in Nuh on Thursday, Prashant Panwar and SP Varun Singla urged them to do their prayers at home. Ulemas promised the police there would be a public namaz.
