Wangchuk said Amit Shah informed Ladakh leaders that they wouldn’t award the Sixth Schedule

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly informed Ladakh leaders that “even if the Prime Minister asks me, I won’t grant Sixth Schedule or statehood to Ladakh,” according to Ladakh social activist Sonam Wangchuk.

Wangchuk said in a video titled “KYA HUA TERA WAADA” that the Ladakh leader received this message from the Home Minister during their meeting on March 4 in New Delhi.

According to Wangchuk, the Union Home Minister seems to have impeded the Prime Minister’s attempt to honor the BJP’s pledges to the people of Ladakh by giving the region’s Sixth schedule.

Wangchuk said that Shah had remarked in Assam that China had not lost an inch of Ladakh. He said, however, that this seemed paradoxical since Ladakhi shepherds are prohibited from relocating to the grazing areas near the Chinese border.

The Ladakh leaders met with a subcommittee of the Ministry of Home Affairs on February 19 in New Delhi. The Ladakh leaders declared the conference to be a success. But there was no outcome from their most recent meeting with Amit Shah on March 4. Wangchuk made the decision to move quickly after the meeting. After breaking his 21-day fast on March 26, Wangchuk said that the Ladakh people will go on with their protests.
