West Bengal central agencies targeted as TMC seeks to shield dishonest leaders: PM Modi

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the TMC wants to allow corruption and violence to go unchecked in West Bengal, which is why central agencies that look into these issues are attacked in the state.

Modi’s remarks were made one day after an NIA team was reportedly assaulted by a crowd on Saturday when they were trying to apprehend two primary suspects in a bombing case from 2022 in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal.

“The TMC administration wants to be able to pillage and terrorize Bengal without consequences. When the TMC operates here, it plans assaults on central investigative agencies to cover up its leaders, who are extortionists and corrupt.

He made this claim while speaking at an election rally in this area of Jalpaiguri: “The TMC is disregarding the law and the constitution of the country.”

Modi said that West Bengal is ruled by “TMC’s syndicate Raj” and stated that the state’s circumstances require “the court to intervene” in a number of cases.

Modi gave assurances to the public that anyone responsible for the recent episodes in Sandeshkhali, where accusations of sexual assault against TMC officials surfaced, will be imprisoned for the rest of their lives.

“What happened in Sandeshkhali has been witnessed by the entire nation,” he said.

The prime minister said that the TMC administration was preventing the Center’s social programs for the state’s impoverished citizens from being implemented.
