When laws are broken, protests take place: Bommai

Kannada activists, according to senior BJP leader and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, go to the streets in protest when the State Government doesn’t follow the law.

He said that it is imperative to assist such activists and voiced his disapproval of the imprisonment of Kannada Rakshana Vedike President Narayana Gowda and other activists.

During the occasion hosted by Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Friday, the former chief minister said that he had ordered the removal of over 2,000 charges that had been brought against Kannada activists during his tenure as chief minister. The event took place at the newly refurbished Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Auditorium.

He said that the reason for the present state of affairs was the lax application of the Kannada signboard regulations.
