Will make sure LS votes are free and fair, says CEO

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir, PK Pole, said on Saturday that the Union Territory will guarantee free and fair Lok Sabha elections. Pole examined the election preparations in South Kashmir’s Anantnag parliamentary seat.

Pole informed reporters that “the notification for the Lok Sabha polls would be issued in 10 to 12 days.” When asked about the security setup, the CEO said that although there were still some difficulties, overall security had improved over the last several years.

“The difficulties remain unchanged. Thus, we have shown that forces are needed. Whether they are assigned to polling places, area dominance, or other tasks, the troops that are locally available and those who are from outside will be deployed in accordance with Election Commission regulations, he said.
