Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player, was tricked into investing in the sports shoe industry

Cricket shoe tycoon Kamlesh Parikh and his son Dhruv Parikh are accused of defrauding former Indian opener and cricket pundit Aakash Chopra of Rs 33 lakhs under the guise of investing in a sports shoe company.

Following the former Indian cricketer’s accusation, a formal complaint was made under section 406 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to an article, the primary accused, Kamlesh, had previously held the position of manager of the Hyderabad Cricket Association. According to the police report filed at the Hariparwat police station, Kamlesh’s son allegedly received an amount of Rs 57.8 lakh from Chopra to invest in the former’s sports shoe company.

We entered into an officially notarized agreement which indicated that Dhruv was to return the money within 30 days with a 20% profit, and post-dated checks were issued for recovery,” according to Chopra, who was quoted in the FIR. But just Rs 24.5 lakh has been refunded after a year, and two of the issued checks were returned unpaid.

The former cricket player said in the FIR that he talked with Dhruv’s father, Kamlesh, and that he made a vow to uphold the arrangement on his son’s behalf. Legal notifications were sent when the father and son failed to comply, but they abruptly stopped communicating, making it challenging to get the Rs 33.3 lakh main sum back.

SHO Arvind Kumar said that the complainant’s documentation and evidence are now being reviewed in relation to the event.

“After an investigation, further action will be taken. Additionally, the accused will be questioned, Kumar said.

The Parikhs have been accused of cheating before. This is not the first instance. The father of cricket player Deepak Chahar filed a formal complaint accusing Kamlesh and his son of cheating in February of this year. As a result, a FIR was filed against the two of them.

Jaya Bhardwaj, Deepak Chahar’s wife, accused him of stealing Rs 10 lakh, saying it was done in the name of a business endeavor.

According to the complaint, which was cited, the accused, who runs a sports store in Agra, threatened Chahar’s family and verbally assaulted them when they demanded the money back.
