India under Harmanpreet Kaur Strive to Win the First Match of the ODI Series Against Bangladesh

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will be hoping for a winning start in the ODI series against Bangladesh, which gets off at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday, after winning the T20I series 2-1.

India had won the previous two T20I games in the series, including a close defensive score of 95 in game two after being 33/0 in 4.1 overs. However, in the series finale, India’s middle order collapsed, losing their last six wickets for only 11 runs, falling from 91/3 to a meager 102/9, with Bangladesh chasing the score.

India must play well in the middle order due to the venue’s sluggish pitch if they want to post competitive totals in ODIs. With a 50-over format, players like Harmanpreet, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Yastika Bhatia have more time to establish significant partnerships and score huge runs, particularly when they are up against bowlers from Bangladesh who use a variety of spin.

If the pitches aid quick bowlers, Pooja Vastrakar, Amanjot Kaur, Anjali Sarvani, and Meghna Singh all have significant roles to play in the bowling department. Otherwise, spin bowling will be overseen by Devika Vaidya, Rashi Kanojiya, Anusha Bareddy, and Sneh Rana.

However, Bangladesh will enter the series with the conviction that India can be defeated, particularly after claiming victory in the most recent T20I. Bangladesh has not yet won an ODI match against India in five tries.

Especially Rabeya Khan, one of their spinners, can be a real handful. For them to get a total high enough for their bowlers to make a match out of it, the batting section must perform well.

The three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) between India and Bangladesh are a part of the 2022–25 ICC Women’s ODI Championship cycle. To decide qualifying for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, which India will host, the cycle is played between 10 nations.

India is in first place with 12 points after winning six of its six games, while Bangladesh is in ninth place with 4 points after losing two series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, with four of their games being rained out.
