Aakash Chopra suggests that in the second ODI against Australia, India could bench Jasprit Bumrah in place of Mohammed Siraj

As both teams try to wrap up their preparations before the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, the second one-day international between India and Australia is scheduled to take place in Indore. Both teams will want to lock down their starting lineups and keep their reserves fresh and prepared to play if necessary. Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer and commentator, offered his opinions on India’s prospective bowling assault.

“I believe Bumrah could be rested and Siraj comes in for him,” stated Chopra.

This may be India’s method of rotating its bowlers in order to give each bowler enough game experience prior to the World Cup so that they are all match-fit and ready for the competition.

The Asia Cup 2023 participant Bumrah ended the competition with four wickets from four games. Due to the birth of his kid, he was unable to attend India’s match against Nepal during the group stage.

When Bumrah sustained a stress fracture in his back while playing against Zimbabwe, he had only returned to action after being out since August of previous year.

He made a comeback to international cricket, leading the Indian squad in a three-match T20I series against Ireland with a backup team. In the series, he took four wickets and seemed to be in good form.

Bumrah might be replaced by Mohammed Siraj, according to Aakash Chopra. In the Asia Cup finals, Siraj turned in a masterful performance, taking six wickets for only 21 runs in just seven overs, and limiting the Sri Lankan team to just 50 runs to exact their vengeance after losing to Sri Lanka in the previous tournament.

In order to decide whether to remain with Shardul Thakur and prolong their batting order or stick with a specialized bowler and enhance their bowling assault, India is still trying to decide on their speed combination.

The Australian team will play against the Indian team in Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium at 1:30 PM (IST).
