Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Pakistani cricket players practice in an army-style setting at a Kakul academy; see videos

In preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to take place in two months, the men’s cricket squad from Pakistan is participating in a military exercise.

29 cricketers have been invited by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to participate in the fitness camp at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) in Kakul, Abbottabad.

Social media users are sharing videos of Naseem Shah doing army-style exercises with enthusiasm. In the videos, he can be seen climbing nets, jumping hurdles, and running with determination.

The Men in Green team will likely be revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a few days for their next home T20I series against New Zealand, which is scheduled for later this month.

To finalize the roster of players who will participate in the five-match Twenty20 International series, Pakistan’s main selectors, along with captain Babar Azam, are conferring. An 18-player roster for the series will be revealed, according to sources close to Geo News.

Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the PCB, had a meeting with the players on Monday at the training camp.

After the recent captaincy change debacle, Naqvi met with star speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi in Kakul on Monday, according to ESPNcricnfo, and they agreed to a ceasefire.

After guiding the Men in Green in only one series—a 4-1 loss to New Zealand—Afridi was relieved of his T20I leadership on Sunday. Prior to the 2024 T20 World Cup, the PCB restored Babar Azam to his position as the white ball format captain.
