At the Asian Games, Indian men humiliate Bangladesh and women outsmart South Korea at kabaddi

Both the men’s and women’s teams from India had successful days at the office on Tuesday as they both recorded convincing victory in their group matches at the Asian Games in this city.

The record-breaking seven-time champion Indian men’s team kicked off their campaign with a decisive 55-18 victory against Bangladesh in a group A match.

In their second group A match of the day, the women’s team defeated South Korea 56–23. Indian Taipei held India, the silver medalist from the last competition, to an unexpected 34-34 tie in their first game on Monday.

The Indian men’s team, who had dropped to third place in the 2018 Asian Games, took a 24-9 advantage into halftime in their attempt to win back the gold medal.

In the 12th minute, Naveen Kumar Goyat and Arjun Deshwal led their raids with flair to inflict the first all-out.

In the first half, Bangladesh was able to supertackle Pawan Sehrawat twice and Goyat once, but it wasn’t enough as India grabbed a 12-point advantage after 20 minutes.

As the Indians increased their advantage and ultimately won the game, Bangladesh struggled in their raids.

India is placed in Group A of the men’s competition with Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Japan.

Group B is composed of Iran, Korea, Pakistan, and Malaysia.
