Before announcing India’s innings, Rohit Sharma reacts angrily and vents his frustration at Ishan Kishan

At Windsor Park in Dominica, Team India easily defeated the West Indies in the first Test, winning by a score of 141 runs to lead the two-match series 1-0. Kraigg Brathwaite’s squad just couldn’t compete with Rohit Sharma and Co. as they had too much left in the tank.

Brathwaite chose to bat first after winning the toss, but it was the only choice that the hosts were able to make as the Indian squad completely dominated the game in all three categories.

One particular play from Day 3’s match, in which India seemed to be completely in control, captured the attention of spectators and is now a hot topic on social media.

Ishan Kishan needed 20 balls to get his maiden run before Indian captain Rohit felt he’d had enough and swiftly declared the first innings after the rookie got off to a promising start.

Numerous Indian batsmen had strike rate issues throughout the first Test; previously on Day 2, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli needed 81 balls to hit his maiden boundary against the West Indies.

Known for his aggressive batting style, Kishan needed some time to calm down during his debut Test match. However, it seems that Rohit had other ideas since the Indian skipper was spotted making his dissatisfaction obvious.

The 36-year-old was seen on CCTV in the dressing area yelling at Kishan to finish it while making emotional motions and flinging his fists in anger. The decision to declare was made by Rohit with India in a dominant position at 421/5 and a lead of 271 runs after the southpaw was able to score his maiden run.

Ishan needed to score rapidly for Rohit to be able to declare the first innings, as Rohit said in the post-game presentation ceremony.

“I was just telling them we have about an over before declaring,” I said. We had to declare, so I wanted Ishan to move off the mark and instruct him to get his own mark. It would be irritating for them, I could see he was always raring to bat,” the Indian captain remarked.
