Following a request from the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office, Alexander Zverev denies accusations of assault

After the Berlin public prosecutor’s office requested that a punishment order be issued against the German tennis player, Alexander Zverev once again refuted the claims of assault.

“I fully refute the accusations from my side. My attorneys will handle the situation. I won’t say anything further, Zverev stated on Monday at the Hamburg European Open, according to DPA news.

According to DPA, Zverev was charged with assault, and the Tiergarten District Court acknowledged receiving the prosecutor’s application on July 7. The court withheld any more information.

The application was originally reported on by broadcaster RTL on Friday. According to RTL, Zverev’s ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea, who gave birth to their daughter in March 2021, was the claimed wounded person.

The ATP said in January of this year that there was “insufficient evidence” to support domestic violence claims brought against Zverev by another former girlfriend, Olya Sharypova.

The accusations have been constantly refuted by Zverev.

The 19th-ranked Zverev will take against Alex Molcan of Slovakia in the first round of the Hamburg European Open.
