“He’s my hero,” Dhruv Jurel says of his father in front of his prospective Test debut

NEW DELHI: Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel expressed his wish to dedicate his future national team debut to his father on Wednesday. Jurel was recently picked in the Indian squad for the last three Test matches against England.

 

The official social media account of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a moving video in which Jurel spoke about the significant impact his father had on his cricket career, calling him his “hero.”
Jurel emphasized his father’s steadfast support and direction by saying, “I would like to dedicate this moment to my father if I get the Indian cap.”because he is my idol.”
After star batsman Virat Kohli withdrew from the remaining matches for personal reasons, Jurel’s participation in the squad was announced, giving the young player a chance to play for his country for the first time.
The 23-year-old has already shown promise in spite of still waiting for his first India cap, especially in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Jurel scored 152 runs at a scorching average of 21.71 and a remarkable percentage of 172.73 in 13 IPL games.
The third Test will take place in Rajkot on February 15 and the fourth Test will take place in Ranchi on February 23. The fifth and final Test of the series will take place at Dharamsala beginning on March 7.
With India winning the second Test in Visakhapatnam by a commanding 106 runs after a close defeat in the first Test in Hyderabad, the series is now tied at 1-1.
Hit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, and Devdutt Padikkal are the updated Indian squad for the third Test.
