“I don’t think team even if Rishabh Pant has a great IPL,” said Zaheer Khan on the chances of the DC star being included in the T20 World Cup squad

Zaheer Khan, an experienced paceman from India, believes Rishabh Pant would have a difficult time carving out a spot for himself in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Pant is scheduled to return to professional cricket with the IPL in 2024, but he is still healing from the injuries he had in the horrible automobile accident in 2023. Whether or not he will be keeping the wickets is still up in the air.

Pant is now putting a lot of effort into his rehabilitation program at NCA in order to become well before the Indian Premier League, where he plays for the Delhi Capitals, begins.

Pant’s return to the pitch would be welcomed by everybody, according to Zaheer, but he still has a long way to go before he can be selected for the T20 World Cup team.

“When you look at Rishabh Pant’s path, you can see that no player’s career is simple. First of all, when he returns to the pitch, all cricket fans will be pleased. In a Colors Cineplex talk, Zaheer said, “He has a lot of hurdles to cross.”

The seasoned bowler said that it would be difficult for the southpaw to be selected for the T20 World Cup team right immediately, even if he does well in the Indian Premier League.

He needs to return and play first. At this point, it’s not simple. You must acclimate to it and regain your rhythm. Such things might need some time. If not, that is fantastic. But considering everything, even if he has an excellent IPL, I doubt the club would be considering that option,” he said.

Former spinner Pragyan Ojha said that KL Rahul and Jitesh Sharma are the front-runners for the wicketkeeper position in the Indian squad for the major ICC tournament during the same conversation.

“From what I’m seeing, I believe it will be Jitesh Sharma and KL Rahul. The influence that Rishabh Pant has had will always be associated with him. But it has to be seen how he demonstrates his fitness,” he said.

The former spinner said that while choosing the team, it would be important to set aside feelings.

You must exercise a little realism. Sometimes you have to set your feelings aside. It has to be seen where he really stands and how, in terms of fitness more than talent, he performs in the first four or five IPL games. He said, “I think KL Rahul and Jitesh Sharma are making a good claim if we speak about the current circumstances.
