In the T20I series, Axar Patel is optimistic that the youthful Indian team would do well against Australia

The youthful Indian team, led by all-rounder Axar Patel, is optimistic about their performance in the five-match Twenty20 International series against Australia starting on Thursday.

Axar’s injury kept him out of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023. He is back in the lineup, however, for the Australia T20 series, which begins in Visakhapatnam and consists of five matches.

After the practice on Wednesday, Axar spoke to JioCinema about what to anticipate from the series against Australia.

“We had heartbreak in the World Cup final, as everyone is aware. But now is the time to let go. In the Twenty20 Internationals, our youthful side will face Australia. Everybody wants to show that we belong here. The squad has a lot of enthusiasm. All we have left to do is create an impact before the T20 World Cup—10–11 T20 international matches remain. We’ve all been instructed to play to our strengths, so to speak, Axar added.

It is not necessary for us to take any fresh action. It’s time for us to go on and express ourselves. We have five games left against Australia, who we all know is a formidable team. We will not subject ourselves to excessive stress. We’ll make an effort to appreciate the games we play,” he said.

After the all-rounder had a left quadriceps injury during the Asia Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, he was left off of the original 15-man World Cup roster. Ravichandran Ashwin, who played in only his maiden league match against Australia, took his spot.

Axar’s perspective hasn’t changed when he returned from injury to compete in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 after cricket.

“I still have the same attitude that I had before to my injury forcing me to miss the World Cup. However, I’m back in shape and ready to excel in every aspect of the game. I am concentrating on the procedures and have not made any adjustments. I don’t want to alter my perspective all that much. I don’t approach this series with the mindset that I am currently one of the team’s more experienced players. “I simply want to carry on with my pre-injury activities,” he said.
