IND-W Vs BAN-W: India loses to Bangladesh in the first ODI by 40 runs using the DLS method

India’s batting performance against Bangladesh in the first ODI, their first-ever match in the 50-over format against the minnows, was subpar, as they were defeated by Bangladesh by 40 runs.

Amanjot Kaur, a young fast bowler, decided to bowl and had a successful ODI debut, taking four wickets for 31 runs and holding Bangladesh to 152 runs in 43 overs.

India, however, gave up with the bat while attempting to reach the easy mark and was dismissed for 113 in 35.5 overs.

With a 40-ball 20, Deepti Sharma led all scorers for India.

For Bangladesh, Marufa Akter took four wickets while conceding 29 runs.

The 23-year-old Amanjot earlier dismissed Bangladesh’s opener Murshida Khatun, Fargana Hoque, skipper Nigar Sultana, and Rabeya Khan as the game was shortened to 44 overs each side owing to rain.

At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Nigar Sultana led the home side in runs scored with 39 and contributed to a key 49-run partnership with Fargana Hoque (27).

Shorna Akther, the last batsman for Bangladesh, got hurt and did not enter the field to bat in the 44th over.

Brief ratings:

Amanjot Kaur 4/31, Devika Vaidya 2/36, Deepti Sharma 1/26, Fargana Hoque 27; Nigar Sultana 39; Bangladesh 152 for 9 in 43 overs; India 113 all out in 35.5 overs (Deepti Sharma 20; Marufa Akter 4/29, Rabeya Khan 3/30).
