India defeated Great Britain in the FIH Pro League shootout

The Indian men’s hockey team maintained composure to defeat Great Britain in a thrilling 4-2 shootout to earn the extra point after the two sides tied 4-4 in the regular period on Saturday in the FIH Pro League at the Lee Valley Stadium in London.

While Manpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Lalit Upadhyay, and Abhishek scored in the shootout, goalie Krishan Bahadur Pathak made two vital saves.

Mandeep Singh (19th), Sukhjeet Singh (28th), Harmanpreet Singh (7th), and Abhishek (50th) all scored for India during normal time, but Sam Ward (8th, 40th, 47th, and 53rd) scored four goals to prevent India from claiming an outright victory. With Ward’s contribution, Great Britain not only maintains its lead in the nine-team rankings but also keeps its perfect record in regulation play this year.

India’s campaign is now moving to Eindhoven, where they will play Argentina on June 8 and the Netherlands on June 7.
