It was “honored” for GT Captain Gill to meet the father of Robin Minz, a security official at Ranchi Airport

India defeated England in the fourth Test and took an unassailable 3-1 lead thanks to a game-winning innings from Shubman Gill, who will captain the Gujarat Titans in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). Gill met Francis Minz, the father of wicketkeeper-batter Robin Minz, at the Ranchi Airport as Team India was departing Jharkhand’s capital.

Known affectionately as “Ranchi ka Gayle,” Robin was purchased by the Gujarat Titans for an incredible Rs 3.6 crore at the small players’ auction. Since then, everyone in the community has been talking about Robin and his father, Francis Xavier Minz.

Francis, a former soldier, is now employed as a security guard at Ranchi International Airport. When the Indian cricket team was departing the city after beating England by five wickets, he was on duty. Gill, the recently appointed GT captain, made time to meet Francis and even snapped a photo that he shared on Wednesday on Instagram.

In the meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans’ official X Twitter posted a video of the meeting. “Humility exemplified as Captain Gill meets Francis Minz, our new Titan, Robin Minz’s father!” is the caption for the video.

“Congratulations on winning the series,” Francis said to Gill after the latter’s victory in the series. Best wishes to the Gujarat Titans. My gratitude to the group.
