Check Out the Full List: IPL 2024: Virat Kohli becomes the First Player to Score 400 Runs in a Season Ten Times

On Thursday, April 25, during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Virat Kohli wrote history for his team.

The RCB mainstay became the first batsman in IPL history to score 400 or more runs for 10 seasons with his 51 runs in 43 balls.

Since the IPL’s first season in 2008, Kohli has participated in the league and has always played for the Royal Challengers of Bengal. With eight hundred and fifty-three half-centuries to his credit, he has amassed 7,693 runs in his IPL career. He has scored 430 runs in nine innings so far.

The 2016 IPL season was the standout season for the veteran Indian batsman, who amassed 973 runs in 16 games and four hundreds. That year, RCB advanced to the final but fell short against SRH. When he hit 557 runs in the 2011 Indian Premier League, the 35-year-old reached his first 400-plus season.

Kohli has the second-highest strike rate of the season so far among players who have amassed 400 runs.

Kohli scored at least 150 runs and more in the seasons he was unable to achieve more than 400 runs. The RCB mainstay has only failed to score 400 runs in the previous ten IPL seasons (including 2024) twice: in 2017 (308 runs) and in 2022 (341 runs).
