Man Sued for Setting Fire to His Neighbor’s Home in Thane

According to an official on Wednesday, police have filed a complaint against a man on suspicion of carelessness while setting off firecrackers, which resulted in a fire at a home close to his Thane district property in Maharashtra.

The event happened on Monday night at a wedding reception at the man’s home, which is housed in a building in the Ambernath neighborhood.

The defendant is accused of setting off firecrackers inside his building’s compound. According to a police station officer from Ambernath, one of the lighted crackers landed on the balcony of a residence across from the building, starting a balcony fire. Grilles and a few other elements in that home were ruined by the fire, he said.

The police on Tuesday filed a formal report (FIR) against the guy under Indian Penal Code Section 435 (mischief by fire or explosive material with purpose to cause damage) in response to a complaint from a resident of the home impacted by the fire, the official said, adding that an investigation was underway.
